Importance of Walking with God

It is vital that we understand the importance of walking with God; and to establish a relationship with Him, and through that relationship, learn what God expects from us in our lives.

We have to understand the importance of having a close relationship with Him and spending time with Him every day.

This is the key to a happy and successful life.

You are also committing to living a life of service and love.

Benefits of Walking with God

Living a Christian life can result in many benefits by having a relationship with God.

But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. (Matthew 6:33)

This means that we can’t be too busy to spend time with God; we need to make Him a priority.

When we are with Him, we will be refreshed for the things that we need to do.

When we have a bad day at work or in a bad mood, we can talk about it.

There are times we need to make decisions and we are stuck, we can seek counsel.

This is what it looks like to have a relationship with God and make Him part of our lives everyday.

Strengthen My Walk with God

The importance of Walking with God as a daily practice of obedience is crucial for our lives.

Our walk with God is strengthened by spending one on one time with Him.  Just like in any relationship.

Every day we are to spend time with Him, that’s how we will know His voice, when we seek Him for guidance, comfort and strength.

My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. (John 10:27)

I can do all things through him who strengthens me. (Matthew 6:33)

We have to be committed to following His guidance and letting Him lead us on the path to righteousness.

Alignment with God’s Will

There is no need to try our own wills on God. Instead, we must trust in God and have the confidence that He will make our paths straight.

Walk in obedience to all that the LORD your God has commanded you, so that you may live and prosper and prolong your days in the land that you will possess. (Deuteronomy 5:33

We should not fear what God is going to do because He will make sure everything goes right for us. God’s will will always go well with us.

If we walk with Him, we will not resist His will.

We would not walk in a different direction with a friend if we were walking together down the street.  We would remain on the same side going in the same direction.

It is the same with our walk with God.

Walking With God Transforms

God has a desire to walk with us and have fellowship with us.  There is no way that we can remain the same when we are close to Him.

In the same way, Moses was glowing when He came down the mountain; we are transformed the more time we spend with Him.

He wants your life to be transformed into a joyful relationship with him, regardless of the difficult circumstances we face daily.

That transformation begins with the healing power of His grace.

The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and he helps me. My heart leaps for joy, and with my song I praise him. (Psalm 28:7)

Trusting God Through Difficult Times

God is faithful, He catches your tears and relieves your burdens and makes the tears of rejoicing brighter.

Whatever you’re going through, don’t be afraid to cry. Crying is a natural reaction. It’s how your body deals with being overwhelmed with joy, sadness, or laughter or heartache.

It’s not a sign of being weak. Quitting is what makes you weak.

Let nothing stop you from doing the good work that God’s called you to do.

Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. (Proverbs 3:5-6)

He will lead you straight to the narrow gate.

God did not say that life will be easy.  In fact, Jesus said that we should expect persecution because he was persecuted.  All we need to do is persevere and we will be saved.

but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved. (Matthew 24:13)

Think about how the trials will be beneficial toward you becoming stronger as a Christian.

Intimate Relationships with God in the Bible

ADAM – Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the LORD God as he was walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and they hid from the LORD God among the trees of the garden.  But the LORD God called to the man, “Where are you?” (Genesis 3:8-9)

ENOCH – Enoch walked faithfully with God; then he was no more, because God took him away. (Genesis 5:24)

NOAH – But Noah found favor in the eyes of the LORD. This is the account of Noah and his family. Noah was a righteous man, blameless among the people of his time, and he walked faithfully with God. (Genesis 6:8-9)

ABRAM – When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the LORD appeared to him and said, “I am God Almighty; walk before me faithfully and be blameless. (Genesis 17:1)

MOSES –  Since then, no prophet has risen in Israel like Moses, whom the LORD knew face to face, (Deuteronomy 34:10)

The Importance of Walking with God Everyday

Many assume they practice walking with God when they go to church but if going to church is an alternative to a daily walk with God then we are in big trouble.

Make sure you make alone time with the Lord top priority every single day.  Remember the time is short.

The bridegroom is coming soon like a thief in the night.  Let’s get that oil ready for our lampstands.

You don’t want to be locked out the door.

This brought up great memories! It reminded me of a book my grandma got me growing up called, Are you there God, it’s me Margaret. Beautifully written, thank you for sharing!

  2. You are so right! We need that one on one time with God in his Word and prayer daily. It’s soooo easy for anyone of us to start making compromises. Besides, he is our joy and strength!
