The season of newness is upon us. It’s the time when everyone is deciding whether or not they will make resolutions to actually maintain this year.
It can be overwhelming to think ahead to the next milestone towards your ultimate goal, but there is a place you can start that you can pick up anytime, anywhere.
There is no time like the present to being your journey.
Let’s get started right now on the path to refresh your mind, body, and soul.
Everyone Needs a Refresher
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
Are you running on autopilot? Life gets busy. Work, church, school, family, and friends begin to run together.
It becomes hard to find work-life balance, and it becomes hard to know whether you are living an authentic Christian life, or just going through the motions.
So if you are wondering if it’s time to refresh, the answer is: yes.
God does not want you to worry or be stressed out. In fact, He repeats time and time again, “do not be anxious.”
How do you refresh your mind, body and soul?
“Therefore, since the promise of entering his rest still stands, let us be careful that none of you be found to have fallen short of it. For we also have had the good news proclaimed to us, just as they did; but the message they heard was of no value to them, because they did not share the faith of those who obeyed.”
~Hebrews 4:1-2~
The first step to refreshing your mind, body, and soul is to have faith.
The promises of God are built around faith, hope, and trust in God who sent Jesus to bring salvation and restoration.
We must obey the command to have faith in order to keep our side of the bargain.
Imagine being in the grocery store with a cart full of groceries, and then walking up to the cashier and offering everything but money to buy your groceries?
Sometimes, we try to replace our faith balance with good deeds and busy lives, thinking things like “I’ve been a good person, surely in doing things right!”
But the truth is, there is no act, no good deed, and no amount of earthly things that can buy what God has to offer.
He asks only for your faith in Jesus Christ.
How do I reset my mind and start fresh?
“Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.”
It all starts with the mind. Your thoughts become your actions, and your actions become your character.
Choose your thoughts carefully, dwelling on all things God, because that means all things good.
The vastness of his mercy, the power in His voice that brought forth all creation, and the miracle of Jesus are just a few places to start.
Refresh your body for strength and endurance
“The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake.”
~Psalms 23:1-3~
God wants to refresh your entire being. He also seeks to give you all you need for health and life.
Sometimes it can be easy to get caught up in needs and wants from a worldly view.
The things that God has for you are not what the world says you need. You must choose to desire whatever it is He has in store for you in order to be truly refreshed.

What does the Bible say about refreshing the soul?
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”
The answer to obtaining a refreshed soul is simply to lay it all down at the feet of Jesus.
Seek Him in prayer and set aside intentional time to build your relationship with Jesus and He will give you rest.
He will restore your soul.
How do you balance mind, body and soul?
“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.”
Becoming refreshed and staying faithful to God takes discipline.
At times, it will seem like a completely illogical task to pray without ceasing when there is work to do, bills to pay, movies to watch, and friends to see.
However, prioritizing things of God above things of the world is the only thing that will help you achieve and maintain true restoration.
You might already be able to test out whether this works or not.
Take a moment to observe. Reflect on times in your life that have been particularly chaotic and stressful: were you conforming to the patterns of the world, or to the will of God?
This is not to say that there won’t be trials and tests no matter how loyal and faithful you are; but too many times our own choices bring us burdens.

Stay Refreshed
“He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end.”
Keeping your spirit refreshed by choosing God with all your heart, body, and soul can be a challenge, especially when social media and binge watching your favorite shows are right next to your Bible app.
Have faith in God and patience with yourself.
He knows the truth and intentions of your heart, and He waits and calls gently to remind you that He is there and ready to bring you rest and restoration.
Let this moment be yours to give to God.
Let this moment be the start of becoming refreshed in your mind, body, and soul.
