You’ve probably heard these words before let go and Trust God. We’ve probably given advice as well to colleagues and friends going through a difficult period.
However let’s be honest; we’ve all experienced really tough moments where the words “let go and let God” didn’t seem easy to do.
We’ve doubted God even when we know He spoke to us about the situation. Then we make a mess of things only to return to Him in humility; asking Him to fix it and then surrendering everything to Him.
When We Don’t Trust God
God spoke to Jonah and told him to deliver a message to the people of Nineveh regarding God’s impending judgment on the city and to appeal to them to repent. (Jonah 3:1-3)
Jonah already had a bias against this wicked nation and wanted God to judge them. Instead of trusting God with the outcome and being obedient to his voice, Jonah took matters into his own hands.
Firstly; he aborted the mission and went in the opposite direction. Then he incited a series of unfortunate events that would have almost cost the lives of the seamen that were on the boat with him.
They now were suspicious of Jonah and decided he was the reason for their impending doom and threw him overboard.
Just when Jonah thought he’d die; a big fish swallowed him and he spent three days and nights in its stomach.
After admitting to God the error of his ways and praying for deliverance; the whale spat him out and what would have taken him a three days journey; Jonah was in such haste and reached his destination in a day.
When we fail to trust God; we are saying he is incapable of guiding us into what is good and ultimately His will for our lives.

Why We Should Let Go and Trust God
God has an excellent track record
The bible is full of examples of why we can trust God.
- God led the children of Israel from Egypt’s bondage; parted the red sea so they could walk on dry land. (Exodus 14:21)
- If that wasn’t enough he provided fire by night and a cloud by day to indicate to them when they should move or not (Exodus 13:21)
- When they were 3thirsty he allowed water to come from a rock. (Exodus 17:6)
We can look at our own lives and reflect on the many times He showed up when there seemed to be no way out.
God Always Keeps His Promises
God has never made a promise that He is unable to keep.
The Lord is right and true; he is faithful in all he does. (Psalm 33:4)
And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. (Romans 8:28)
The outcome of every situation in your life is for good. It will either mold or refine you; cause you to mature and grow in God; produce the fruit of the spirit or add great blessings to your life.
There are times when you’ll feel like trusting God doesn’t make sense.
So sometimes the leading and direction of God don’t make sense to our small minds, but he’s asking us to believe what he has spoken because his track record and nature tell us that he is faithful, he can’t lie and he will always come through.
One thing you can do when going through a tough time is to read and meditate on the promises of God.
His words will quiet your fears and comfort your heart.
5 Ways to Trust God When You Feel Like Giving Up
Sometimes we feel like giving up in our lives because things are hard or there isn’t anything good happening.
We might even think that God doesn’t care about us or that He doesn’t love us. But when we trust Him, He always has something much better for us.

Pray About Your Situation
If you’re feeling discouraged, pray about your situation. Ask God to help you see His plan for your life. Then ask Him to show you how to make it happen.
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:6-7)
Don’t Give Up!
We often give up too easily. It’s easy to think that our lives will never improve, so why bother trying? But when we keep trying, we find that God wants to use us to accomplish good things.
And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.
Ask God For Help
If you’re feeling discouraged, ask God for help. He knows how to make things work out for His glory.
“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. (Matthew 7:7)
Be Patient with Yourself
We often hear people say “I’m not good at anything.” That’s just not true! Everyone has strengths and weaknesses. It’s okay to admit that you aren’t perfect. Just keep trying until you find something you’re good at.
I can do all things through him who strengthens me. (Philippians 4:13)
Pray for direction and His peace.
Ask Him to Help You Find His Will For You
If you’re feeling down or discouraged, ask God to help you see where he wants you to go.
Then follow through with his plan.
For I know the plans I have for you,-plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. (Jeremiah 29:11)
Leave the outcome to God. You are not your own; you are not in control.

scriptures to meditate on During trials:
- When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze.” (Isaiah 43:2)
- Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.(Psalm 23:4)
- no weapon forged against you will prevail, and you will refute every tongue that accuses you. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and this is their vindication from me,” declares the LORD.(Isaiah 54:17)
- When I am afraid, I put my trust in you.(Psalm 56:3)
The truth is, the more you trust God and see what he can do; the stronger your faith becomes.
Trusting God is giving him full access to your decisions and surrendering your will to him because you are confident he has your back.
It’s good to keep close to the god. This is going to help people to understand and learn how to trust god.
