Time management is one of the most important skills to master but unfortunately it’s overlooked.
We tend to go through our daily lives without any intention or direction, when it comes to our time.
The beginning of time
Our Heavenly Father dwells in eternity. There is no measure of moments, activities, or existence because eternity goes on forever and forever.
However, when God created The Heavens, the earth and all that lives in it, Genesis 1 began with “In the beginning”: that’s where the measurement of time began.
When God created Adam and Eve, the intention was for them to live in peace and unity with God for eternity.
Unfortunately, when they disobeyed God, one of the curses handed down was death, which is the ultimate end of our time on this Earth.
Time is Precious
Why is time so important? It’s a limited and valuable commodity.
You can’t reverse it, expedite it, control it, or hold on to it, you just have to live in the moment and make wise decisions because time is always fleeting.
We never get a do over when it comes to time but we can manage the limited time given to us
Teach us to number our days so that we may get a heart of wisdom

The Basics of Time Management
1. Planning
Planning reduces risk, helps you uncover things within your blind spot that you wouldn’t normally consider, it reduces stress, and gives you a clear map forward.
There are so many things we do everyday without even realizing it.
We spend our days rushing from one task to another, but sometimes we need to slow down and take stock of what we’re actually doing.
If you’re not sure where to start with planning for time, try these five tips:
- Make a list of everything you need to accomplish today.
- Set aside 15 minutes each day to review your schedule.
- Plan out your week by setting aside blocks of time to complete certain activities.
- Schedule meetings and appointments into your calendar.
- Prioritize your tasks based on importance and urgency.
2. Prioritizing
Setting priorities is a biblical principle.
But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well
When you’re overwhelmed by too many things to do, it’s easy to feel stressed out and lose focus.
But if you take control of your life, you can achieve more and enjoy yourself along the way.
Setting priorities for time management will help you manage your day better.
It’s important to prioritize tasks that matter most to you, so you can spend less time on unimportant tasks.
- Sort through your list and decide which items are most important to you.
- Give yourself enough time to complete each task.
- Don’t let anything else distract you until you’ve completed your top priority.

Effective Time Management
The ability to manage time well is essential for success in life. It helps us organize our day, prioritize tasks, and stay focused on important projects.
There are tools you can use that will assist you:
1. Using a Time log
You can record what you do at 20-minute intervals and at the end of the day, you evaluate if you achieved all your goals and assess where adjustments can be made regarding task allocation.
2. Use Planning Tools
These may include, planners, pocket diaries, notebooks, phone apps, wall charts or even writing down your tasks.
This keeps you aligned with your goals and gives you the space to focus on your priorities.
3. Delegating
Newsflash! You don’t need to do everything!
You can recruit the assistance of others by assigning tasks to various members of your workforce, and asking your extended family for help with the kids so you can have time to get other things done.
If you’re in a leadership capacity, you can assign people into teams to increase the output just do what works best for you.

The Benefits of Time Management:
1. Improves Your Self-Discipline
We forget that we are living on borrowed time.
There’s an expiration date to the time given to us but once you are able to manage your time well, you’re well on your way to becoming a self-disciplined person.
It’s easy to master so many things but to become a master of self takes much effort and should be commended.
2. Improves Your Quality of Work
Managing your time gives you room to focus, align your goals with desired objectives, allow you space to make mistakes and correct them.
The more prepared and intentional you are about your work, the quality improves.
3. Reduces Stress
Not knowing how you spend your time or which tasks need priority will have you in a tailspin.
You’ll constantly feel overworked, and burdened or you continue to overextend yourself because you have not set clear boundaries.
Knowing when and what requires the most from you, gives you room to be available to address whatever critical demands you may have.
4. You Achieve Your Goals Faster
An aspect of goal-setting is being “time-bound.”
You set a goal with a time in mind and also break down your goal into achievable steps all measured again by time.
With this approach, you can determine when you’ve gone off track, when you’re on target and when you need to amplify your effort, and ultimately you will achieve your goals.
In conclusion, if you want to live an abundant, impactful, and goal-oriented life, then become more intentional with the management of your time and the results will be explosive.
There’s a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot, a time to kill and a time to heal, a time to tear down and a time to build, a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance. ~Ecclesiastes 3: 2-4~
